Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we choose Cygnets Dance?
Cygnets Dance is a professional dance school created specifically for children aged 2 - 7 years, with some older dancer classes available for the Intermediate and Advanced Dancer. We take pride in working with each child as in individual and encourage their enjoyment and progression through each dance class.
Our programs have been created with your childs physical, mental and emotional developmental level in mind. Every teacher has completed or are currently undertaking teacher training specifically in Ballet and Early Childhood Development, they also currently hold a Working with Children Check.
Cygnets Dance is also a fantastic platform to begin your childs love of the arts as Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles, what a wonderful way to begin!
We offer a discount of 20% for the second dancer and 30% for the third dancer attending Cygnets Dance.
Class sizes are limited to 8-12 students as it is vital that your children receive the individual attention they deserve!
There is an annual registration fee of $30 per family.
What happens when my child turns 7?
Cygnets Dance is directly associated with The West Australian School of Dance, an exceptional school which continues the development of your little dancer. Miss Jenny and Miss Holly can continue your dancers journey as their teachers at this outstanding school.
How is Cygnets Dance different from other Pre School / Toddler Programs and Dance Schools?
At Cygnets Dance, ballet is our passion and focus! We uniquely present a Pre School ballet program that has been developed with the ‘whole child’ in mind. The classes and curriculum are created based on a developmentally appropriate program and infused with many aspects from the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and Discover Dance program. This is coupled with the knowledge and experience of the founder who has an extensive background in Early Childhood and Primary School education.
Can I watch the class?
We are excited to welcome parents and friends to the viewing week at the end of each term. This is a wonderful opportunity to share in your little dancers achievements.
For our ‘Dance with Me’ 2-3 year classes we require a special someone to be with their child and participate throughout every class during the term. Families are invited to attend during viewing week.
Do you offer a trial class?
Yes we do. All families are welcome to attend a trial class prior to committing to the term, please contact us at email@example.com to book into the best class for your child. Our trial classes are complimentary.
How is payment made?
We have a fantastic portal for parents to keep in touch with the Cygnets family and also easily sign up for classes and make payments via credit card or direct deposit. To secure your spot in the class payment will need to be made prior to the term commencing.
What if my child is absent?
Your child is able to attend any class throughout the week to 'make up' for their missed lesson. Please visit our timetable page and then email us to organise these classes.
Are Cygnets Dance classes for boys and girls?
We welcome boys as well as girls. Ballet is very beneficial for boys with many sports players taking part in ballet classes to improve their agility. Boys love the classes and have just as much fun. Our classes are an excellent way to increase coordination, balance and agility, which can enhance their performance in other sports.
Can my child join mid-term?
Your child is welcome to join at any point during the term providing there is space. Fees are then calculated on a pro rata basis
Do children really benefit from ballet class?
Yes, it a great way for your child’s confidence to thrive. Ballet is also wonderful for co-ordination and agility. We use fun and imaginative exercises and stories to promote musicality, self discipline and poise. At Cygnets Dance we encourage children to express themselves and shine
What should my child wear?
Bare feet are best for their first class. We encourage students to purchase the Cygnets Dance uniform of a leotard and tutu, available from Cygnets Dance directly. For boys we have the Cygnets shirt and shorts. This is a wonderful way for children to connect a ‘uniform’ to their ballet class. We can recommend a local dance shop to get their ballet shoes fitted, please contact us for details on one near you. If you would prefer, you child is welcome to wear any ballet outfit in any colour that they like (we ask that for girls it includes a skirt).
The icing on the cake is the hair style, it should be tied off of their face in a neat ponytail or bun.
