Our story isn’t just about dance steps, it’s a journey of heart and magic that began with a simple dream: to create a space where children could flourish, not just as dancers, but as confident, joyful little humans. Today, we want to take you behind the curtain and share how we grew from a tiny spark of an idea into the nurturing community we are today!
Once upon a time, Cygnets Dance WA was just a whisper of an idea. We saw a need for something different in the world of dance education, a place where the pressure of competition was replaced by the wonder of storytelling. We wanted to see little eyes light up with excitement rather than worry about a perfect performance!
We started small, but our hearts were big! From the very beginning over coffee with our founding director and teachers, Miss Jenny, Miss Carolien and Miss Meg. We were passionate to instill magic, grace, and calm environment in every lesson.
As word spread about our unique, story-based approach, our little family began to grow! We didn't just stay in one place; we fluttered our wings and expanded to serve the beautiful families in Alkimos, Butler, Mindarie, Quinns Rocks, and Joondalup. Each location was chosen with love, ensuring that no matter where you are in the northern suburbs, a magical dance experience is just around the corner!
One of the most special chapters in our story is our status as a Not-For-Profit (NFP) organisation. You might wonder, "What does that mean for my child?" Well, it means everything!
At Cygnets Dance WA, we don't have shareholders or owners looking to make a profit. Instead, our "shareholders" are the children who walk through our doors! Being an NFP means that every single cent we receive is poured back into the magic. It goes toward:
Enchanting Props and Costumes: Creating a world of wonder where a simple silk scarf can become a butterfly wing or a magical cape!
Highly Trained Educators: Investing in our team so they can provide the most nurturing and developmentally appropriate classes for your little ones.
Community Support: Keeping our programs accessible and supporting local families through initiatives like Kidsport.
Joy Over Profit: We prioritise the emotional well-being and growth of our dancers over everything else. If a child leaves our studio with a smile on their face and a spark in their heart, we know we’ve done our job!
